We need to add foundation support in a building basement
Hi all! We need to add foundation support in a building basement for a retrofit project. Ceiling height is only 7 feet, and we can't bring in standard equipment. How do contractors typically handle interior foundation work in these conditions?

Hi! Interior retrofits with low clearance are actually a common use case for handheld pile driving equipment. The compact units can fit through doorways, work in crawl spaces, and operate under low ceilings where conventional rigs simply won't go. Two workers can carry the drive head down stairs or into tight areas without needing a forklift or crane. The installation process is clean - minimal vibration, controlled noise levels, and very little mess compared to traditional foundation methods. For your 7-foot ceiling, a portable helical driver should work fine. Check this out: https://illustrarch.com/articles/64928- ... tools.html - explains the productivity advantages. You'll need to confirm your basement soil conditions first and select the right torque class. Keep reaction forces in mind when working on sloped floors or uneven surfaces. Log torque at every section for quality control.
